In just the short time since we started this project the landscape of photography has changed radically. Not a fun time to be in the camera business as the cell phone camera has surfaced as a formidable competitor, but features and quality continue to improve at a dizzying pace.

To you cell phone's credit, you pretty much always have it with you, but they are not much better than the first generation of digital cameras. For the foreseeable future, though, there are image quality issues that can't be overlooked. Forget capturing action shots, the shutter delay means your subject will be gone before the picture is made. Low light situations are a nightmare. The flash has very little range. The amount of information captured by the tiny sensors is several generations behind dedicated cameras. With the exception of some strap on lenses we've seen for the iPhone you have to get pretty close to your subject to fill the frame. There are great photos made everyday with cell phones, but more not so great ones.

This section will grow to be a resource for parents into the vast world of photography, with information for the beginner to the seasoned professional. If you have an area you'd like to write about let us know.
